The Tropics Foundation Congratulates Dr. Muhammad Ibrahim on His Appointment as Director General of IICA


The Tropics Foundation extends its warmest congratulations to Dr. Muhammad Ibrahim on his appointment as Director General of the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA).

Dr. Ibrahim is a distinguished alumnus of the Tropical Agricultural Research and Higher Education Center (CATIE)and served as CATIE’s Director General for eight years, a period marked by strategic leadership, institutional strengthening and a strong commitment to research, education and regional cooperation for sustainable development.

Throughout his career, Dr. Ibrahim has demonstrated a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing agriculture, food systems and rural development in Latin America and the Caribbean. His appointment to lead IICA comes at a critical moment for the region, as countries work to build more resilient, inclusive and sustainable agri-food systems.

The Tropics Foundation is confident that Dr. Ibrahim’s experience, vision and collaborative leadership will significantly contribute to advancing regional cooperation and generating positive impact for people and nature across the Americas.

We wish Dr. Muhammad Ibrahim every success in this new role and reaffirm our commitment to supporting partnerships that foster sustainable development in the tropics.
